Now that you have completed your experiment and collected your data, the conclusion demonstrates what you have proved or learned. If you have done your experiments well, your conclusions will simply be the summary of your results. You should include the following elements:
- Your data will either support your original hypothesis or not The conclusion should answer if the hypothesis was correct. Suggest reasons that support the correctness of the hypothesis framing them in terms of variables and which ones were responsible for the effects. Respond to any variables that may have had an impact on the hypothesis not anticipated at the beginning of the experiment. Indicate any interesting, significant or unexpected results arising from the observations, measurements, or data analysis.
- From initial research that you performed, make reference to any similar experiments conducted. Indicate if your results were similar and demonstrate a property or principle indicated in the research. If you found differences, suggest why. Explain if there were different variables tested in your experiment;
- Discuss where your results could be applied. Suggest any refinements you would make if the experiment were to be redone and if you would make changes in any of the following:
- in variable control;
- in hypothesis;
- in question;
- in materials;
- in procedure;
- in measurement;
- in data gathering and analysis;
- What similar or related questions might be investigated?
